I have an obsession for pretty pastels. So I decided to indulge, smack in the middle of the snowy-white Canadian winter. Braving the snow in powder pink, who said that girly meant wimpy?
This “videtorial” is my first talkie, so enjoy Rose’s musings on beauty. Click on the CC button for the English translation.
The backstage images of Chanel’s SS2015 show (check them out here) landed in my inbox in November. The theme of the runway show was the women’s movement. Instead of warrior faces, Tom Pêcheux (for the time being) designed cool pastels with a hint of edgy. And just like a pop song, the pictures got stuck in my mind.
Fate was conspiring for some softness, when I met with my newest model/muse, Rose. With her strawberry blond hair and blue eyes, this film and art history major was the perfect girl for the looks. Rose’s affinity for the video camera is not new: she’s been in a few videos and short movies, and just got her first role in feature film that should be out in 2015.
Pastels are the major trend at the spring 2015 counter. You can wear them at any age, it’s a matter of attitude, and as long as you keep the colours coordinated to your outfit, you won’t look like a unicorn puked on you. Avoid creating classical shapes with these colours, and just finger paint, or else it will look like you tried too much. For the Videtorial, I improvised right off the palettes of the great pieces I found at the showrooms of Canadian designers Travis Taddeo and Valerie Dumaine.
