The Magic

Cool Summer

Warm weather and sunshine just make you want to wear all kinds of shades of fun. Of course there are the pop liners and the neon bright lips, but I like a nice cool eye, the kind that is sophisticated, yet daring!

I got a great opportunity to work with Marilyn M from the Montage agency. Her hair is a striking platinum blonde and the sun wasn’t quite there, so her skin was a nice ivory shade. One look at her Online portfolio and I saw she had plenty of photos where she is all dolled up and sexy. Of course, I had to try and play against typecast and turn her into a cool summer girl.

The order of the day was two great shadows by Chanel. If you are lucky, the amazing Campagnule shadow stick (limited edition), from the summer collection is still available! Campagnule is one of those “between” colours, somewhere between purple and violet, it can look blue.  I didn’t want to add a liner or all those other makeup details, I just wanted a burst of fresh colour. Marilyn, with her paleness and stunning green/blue eyes, took the wall to wall application beautifully. It’s all thanks to that one lovely shadow, blending out like a dream! To keep in line with the cool eyeshadows, I used the Dior Addict It-Lash inpurple for all the looks. The blue “Andy” jacket is by Valerie Dumaine.

Then there was the “Swing” single eye shadow, from the Blue Rhythm collection, It’s a new and permanent collection available at all Chanel makeup counters. It’s a bit sheer when used dry and less blue, but when used wet: it’s gorgeous! A midnight blue with a metallic shimmer finish that has a smoldering effect. I used it solo, making a smoky effect and I left the bottom lash-line bare so it looked less “done”. You’ll also find two grey/black smoky eye quads (one with a blue shade). But it’s the two blue nail polishes that are worth checking out (wanna bet they will be sold out?). Filippa dress by Valerie Dumaine.

For the last look, I wanted to have fun and I used two limited edition shadows, a green by Pupa (in 601) and the “Rage” single eye shadow from the NARS Guy Bourdin collection. I just applied them in a triangular pattern, it took about 2 minutes to do the look! The Berrit pastel shirt is by  Valerie Dumaine.
