The Magic

Highlights Are On

It was time to turn on the highlights. I wanted to explore the shimmering side of makeup.

When the beautiful face of Florence landed in my mail box, I knew I wanted to turn her elfin/doll-like face into a supernatural, magical girl.

Shimmer and glitter were my products of choice. I applied L’Oréal Magic Lumi, to her whole face. Then I did the eye makeup and lips. I like these violet lips, courtesy of M.A.C. Cosmetics in Heroine, I applied it as a stain, letting the pinky-ness of her natural lips come through. I kept the eye makeup simple but graphic.

It’s hard to make highlights pop in picture, because it has to reflect back at the angle of the lens. So you have to move the lights and the camera to get the highlight to shine in your direction. The last shots are where I found the best angle for the picture, for the makeup and for her face. I also experimented with a blue background, it gave the pictures a very colourful contrast effect.Ewa-Bilinska-Makingupthemagic- Ewa-Bilinska-Makingupthemagic-
