The Magic

Gypsy Souls Into The Wilderness

I love to travel and I live in the Great Canadian Wilderness, just by the rail tracks. I can hitch a ride, just like Bob Dylan and travel down South for some soul searching. Let’s go on an imaginary trip of Gypsy Boho-Chic on The Wild Side.

In my mind I had Versuschka in Yves Saint Laurent, dripping in suede. With her big hair extensions, on an imaginary safari. I also have the Gypsy women of Lindbergh and Helmut Newton; brunettes with dark eyes taking you away on a road trip to Los Angeles. Where is she from ? We don’t know! Where is she going? She doesn’t even know… But it doesn’t matter because it’s the journey that really counts, not the destination. So let’s take a ride on the Wild Side!

Wild at Heart

Mr. Yves Saint-Laurent loved to travel. His landmark Safari collection was inspired by his travels to Marrakesh, where he had a summer house. In the late seventies Mr. Saint-Laurent got inspired by Russia and all the Bohemian Chic one can find in between. Designers Hedi Slimane and Anthony Vaccarello honored his love for bohemian with touches of Gypsy stylings. The late sixites and early seventies revelled in mixing different ethnic references, creating what we know today as Boho.

Wild Beasts of the Park X

Quoting Veruschka on safari… but it’s more by the lake in Parc Xtension, The fur coat is real muskrat, by a Finnish brand called Leekan by Leena Kannusmäki. It was one of those lucky finds in a thrift store for a cool 100$. It was starting to fall apart, as it had been really well loved. No doubt being worn at the chalet for après-ski! A friend graciously mended it so I could enjoy it. I wear it on the coldest days, and sometimes indoors! The faux-leather pants are the same as MY FAUX LEATHER STORY and the faux-leather motorcycle jacket is H&M circa 2009! The tassel bra is vintage Agent Provocateur and the coin necklace is a thrift store find. The Hat is from Urban Outfitters, bought more than 8 years ago!

Rock’n’Roll Gypsy

I decided to quote Hedi Slimane’s work for Saint-Laurent for this ’89 look. The burgundy wool, oversized shoulder pad jacket is by an Italian brand called Bogy’s ! Again, it’s one of those very lucky thrift store finds: it’s even made in Italy! Same black felt fedora hat from Urban Outfitters, as before. The satin shirt is from Mango a few season ago, but you can swap it for some leopard print! The burgundy coated jeans are from Zara c. 2015 (a nod to Hedi Slimane)… But you can get faux-leather leggings for a similar effect! The rhinestone incrusted security pin is thrifted while the silver necklaces are from a local jewelry Brand called Harakiri. I won’t lie: I love looking like Axl Rose!

Beauty Notes

Yes you might have noticed the hair! The full wig (no lacefront) I found on Shein... Luckily it matched perfectly my hair colour! This model is no longer available… Wigs can be very pricey but Shein have amazing prices! Shop around if you want the Veruschka big hair look. The eye makeup was done using Natasha Denona Biba Palette.

these looks are reels on my INSTA

My Theme song for this look, a bit more 1980s, but great looks by Stevie Nicks.
